Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club held their Opening Day for season 2022-2023 last Saturday September 3rd. The weather was excellent for the first day of bowls in the new season, with 70 members joining in for a social game. President Gerard Walsh welcomed everybody to the club starting off introducing 12 new members who joined the club over the winter months. He then asked Jean Smith & Carmel Caruana pictured above to unfurl the Midweek Pennant Flag which was won last year. Both Jean & Carmel played in the winning team and have been great members of our club over many years. The first 2 bowls played for the new season were rolled down by last years Club Champions Victoria Brackley & Nelson Ball. Everyone then enjoyed 2 hours of fun on the green followed by a wonderful afternoon tea supplied by the club. Practice games will be held next Saturday at Yarraville-Footscray against Bareena & Rosamond Bowling Clubs. Please place your names on the sheet in the foyer if you would like a game.
