VALE- JOHNHURST

The President & Members of the Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club mourn the passing of past member Mr John Hurst and we extend our deepest sympathy to the Hurst family.

Our thoughts are with Jan at this very sad time.

John was a member at Footscray City and was part of the amalgamation that helped form the Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club.

John spent many hours here at Yarraville-Footscray behind the scenes working to make our club go forward.

He helped build the current gaming lounge, and was strong on recruitment of players to our club.

John also was a champion player on the green winning many titles at both Footscray City & Yarraville-Footscray.

John won the club singles at Footscray City in 1994/95, he also won the first ever club singles here at Yarraville-Footscray in 1998/99

At Footscray City John won many Metro or as it was called then Group 9 titles.

He won the Bicentennial Fours Championship and also the State Pairs and was selected to play for Victoria.

While at Yarraville-Footscray he won the State Fours in 2001/2002.

John was well known by players from all over Australia, and was a true character on and off the green,

John will never be forgotten for his dedication to our club and the game of lawn bowls
