Last Thursday 28th October the Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club was able to present a Super Veteran badge to one of its colourful members, Mr Len Thomas.

Len has been a member of the club since 2001, and in that time, he has been a dedicated bowler and a hard worker for the club in many different forms.

He has served on the Bowls Committee for 4 years, played in both Midweek & Saturday Pennant teams, hardly missing a game over the 20 years.

Has been team manager of the Saturday Pennant Sides 5 & 6, always early at the club to collect green fees and get score cards etc ready each Saturday.

Len was also able to drive members on the team bus to away games and spectators to watch our teams play in finals on many occasions.

He was the main person selling raffle tickets on a Thursday and Friday night for many years, helping raise funds for the club.

Last season Len played in the Night Pennant team that was beaten in the grand final and was one of our better players on the night.

President Gerard Walsh made the presentation to Len at the club on Thursday the day Len turned 80, in front Len’s  family that joined with him to help celebrate the big occasion.

President Gerard thanked Len for his countless hours of work on and off the green and wished Len all the best for the future.
