YARRAVILLE-FOOTSCRAY BOWLING CLUB
WEDNESDAY TRIPLES RESULTS
The Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club played the fifth round of the Wednesday Open 2 Bowl Triples on December 4th , this event is proudly sponsored by Nelson Bros. Once again 22 teams played the 2 games of 14 ends, which saw players from Deer Park, Williamstown, Newport, Hoppers, Moonee Valley , Sunbury. Altona Sports and Yarraville-Footscray bowlers enjoy a great day.
After the two games had been completed we had 4 teams win both games with Robert Sutherland & team on 35 points, Frank Dalton & team on 37 points.
Runners-Up for the day went to Heather Henderson, Robert Satori & Ernie Jones with 37 points & 11 shots up.
Winners for the day were Roberta Paddle, Maurie Bell & Steve Brooks with 40 points & 24 shots up.
Best second game winners were John Purdy, George Payne & John Slevison with 21 points & 18 shots up.

SATURDAY PENNANT RESULTS
The ninth round of the Bowls Victoria Saturday Pennant Competition was played last Saturday December 7th with Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club having a good day on the greens with 4 teams having wins, the sad part is that the top team has yet to taste victory.
On Saturday our Premier Side played away at Melbourne and our team was hoping to have it’s first win of the season after just going down in the past 2 games. Our side started very well and had an early lead, but Melbourne proved once again to be far too strong for our side, with a big finish from them. Our team won one rink and played a draw on another going down 78 v 81. Nelson Ball & team lost 12 v 23. Gary Ball & team lost 27 v 29. Geoff Robinson & team played a 18 all draw. The winning rink was Stuart Mcneill, Paul Murphy, Alan Dove & Wayne Roberts 21 v 11. In their next game they will play away at Caulfield park.
Side Two played at home against Werribee, and this team needed to have a win after going down in their past 2 games. Side Two played well all day and won all 4 rinks to win the game 97 v 68. Dan Ellis & team won 21 v 18. Craig Guymer & team won 23 v 19. Frank Dalton & team won 27 v 15. The best rink was Donna Hill, Mike Lake, Robert Mclellan & Ray Lawerson 26 v 10. In their next game they will play at home against Melton.
The Third Side played at home against Newport, and they also had to have a win after going down in their past 2 games. They also had a great day on the green winning all 4 rinks and won the game 89 v 64. Ray Russell & team won 19 v 15. Dale Reeves & team won 25 v 20. Kevin Bradshaw & team won 21 v 14. The best rink was Ross Homann, Robyn Barker, Dan Walker & Jean Smith 24 v 15. In their next game they will play at Melton.
Side Four played away at Deer Park and they did not have the best of days on the carpet, they could not win a rink and lost the game 58 v 103. Mark Wellwood & team lost 6 v 31. Jim Dalrymple & team lost 19 v 29. Rod Baber & team lost 15 v 22. The best rink was Peter McKendrick, Leigh Henderson, Ross Hodges & Steve Brooks 18 v 21. In their next game they will play at home against Werribee.
Side Five played away at Altona and they also did not have the best of days, only winning one rink and lost the game 67 v 80. Brian Butler & team lost 15 v 26. Pam Glynn & team lost 14 v 18. Side Six played at Newport against Altona, as Newport will host some of our home games due to our middle green being under renovation. They had a great day winning all 4 rinks and won the game 96 v 58. John Lacey & team won 18 v 17. June Alexander & team won 24 v 20. Merv Davies & team won 22 v 13. The best rink was Andrew Hewett, Con Koromilas, Rosemary Cordy & Chris Ouzas 32 v 8. In their next game they will play at Newpoprt against Footscray Park.
Side Seven played at home against Altona Sports and the continued on their great form winning both rinks and won the game 52 v 34. Jean Richings and team won 27 v 20. The best rink was Robert Walker, Glen Deoki & Steve McMahon 25 v14. In their next game they will away at Aberfeldie CBC.

On Saturday our Premier Side played at home against Deer Park, and our team was confident of doing well against a strong Deer Park Team. The top side did not start well and were behind all day , they did however fight back to be only 4 down on the last end of play. We could not score on the last end and lost the game 67 v 73. Geoff Robinson & team lost 9 v 22. Nelson Ball & team lost 16 v 20 Wayne Roberts & team drew 14/14. The best rink was Aaron Evans, Steve Sheaf, Winston Brackley & Gary Ball 28 v 17. Next week they will play at home against Bundoora.
Side Two played away at Deer Park in what was always going to be a very hard game to win. Our team did not have the best of days not winning a rink and going down 67 v 88. Ray Lawerson & team lost 15 v 26. Craig Guymer & team lost 19 v 23. Frank Dalton & team lost 18 v 21. The best rink was Alan Viney, Mike Lake, Matt Murphy & Gary Little 15 v 18. In their next game they will play away at Bacchus Marsh.
The Third Side played at home against Palm Lake, and this game was decided on the last bowl with Palm Lake winning 79 v 80, our team did win 2 rinks, but the loss has cost them top spot on the ladder. Dale Reeves & team lost 14 v 21. Ray Russell & team lost 15 v 20. Kevin Bradshaw & team won 20 v 19. The best rink was Ross Homann, Steve Smith, Donna Hill & Terry Vinton 30 v 20. In their next game they will play away at Broadmeadows.
Side Four played away at Laverton who were in top spot. Our team had a great day winning 3 rinks and won the game 78 v 67. Rod Baber & team lost 15 v 18. Jim Dalrymple & team won 21 v 17. NORMA MASSEY DAY RESULTS
Once again the Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club has staged the annual Norma Massey Memorial Day which was played on Sunday November 10th. This is one of the biggest days in the Ladies Bowling calendar which is to honour one of the finest lady bowlers to have played the game of bowls. Norma played many years at the Yarraville-Footscray Club winning many major events throughout Melbourne, Australia and the world. The Club is very proud of its association with the Massey family and this day will continue for many years ahead. On Sunday President Nancy welcomed teams from the following clubs, Belmont, Burden Park, Deer Park, Donvale, Drouin, Edithvale, Essendon, Heathcote, Ivanhoe, Keilor, Maribrynong Park, Melton, Montmorency, Mulgrave Country Club, Newport, Palm Lake, Point Cook, The Avenue, Torquay, Werribee, White Hills, Williamstown as well Yarraville-Footscray members.
Once again the Club provided a wonderful smorgasbord lunch with all the trimmings which all present enjoyed.
After the 3 games of bowls had been played President Nancy announced the following results.
Best first game winner went to Sue Wouda & team from Palm Lake with 20 points . Best second game winner went to Lyndie Borton & team from Craigeburn with 18 points. Best third game winner went to Janet Brouwer from Point Cook with 18 points.
Runners-Up went to the team from Maribyrnong Park of C.Hunter, D.Marsh, D.Keane & L.Smith with 3 wins & 50 points.. The winners from Drouin were M.Leighton, J.Aubrey, M.Firth & S, Atkinson with 3 wins & 52 points. President Nancy thanked all people who helped stage the day, special mention to the Sponsors of the day Nelson Bros from Williamstown, President Nancy made special mention to the Match Committee for of their long hours in arranging the day. And she hoped to see all bowlers back again next year for the Norma Massey Day.

On Saturday our Premier Side played away at Essendon which is always a very hard venue to win at, the team started very well and had the lead for most of the match, the result of the game went down to the last bowl with our team going down 77 v 78. They only managed to win the one rink and yet nearly pinched the game. Wayne Roberts & team lost 17 v 18. Gary Ball & team lost 17 v 24, Geoff Robinson & team lost 18 v 21. Side Two played at home against Maribyrnong Park, and they continued on their winning way this time winning 3 rinks and won the game 83 v 60. Ray Lawerson & team lost 15 v 20. On Saturday our Premier Side played at home against Clayton, our team was hoping to get its first win of the season against Clayton as in the past few games we have been able to play well against them. Sadly the day did not turn out well for our team, they could only manage to win one rink and lost the game 56 v 90. Wayne Roberts & team lost 11 v 31, Nelson Ball & team lost 7 v 26, Gary Ball & team lost 16 v 19. The winning rink was Mike Galakos. Nat Black, Andrew Myers & Geoff Robinson 22 v 14. Next week they will against the top team Altona.
Side Two played away against Hoppers and they had a great day on the green winning 3 rinks and won the game 87 v 61. Dan Ellis & team lost 13 v 21. Ray Lawerson & team won 19 v 18. The second round of the Bowls Victoria Saturday Pennant Competition was played last Saturday October 12th with Yarraville-Footscray having a good day on the greens with 4 of their teams winning on the weekend.
On Saturday our Premier Side played away at Mentone in what is always a very hard surface to win on. This game started well for our club, with the game close for most of the match. Mentone did prove to strong on the day winning 82 v 65. We did however win 2 rinks which will be very important. Wayne Roberts & team lost 11 v 26, Nelson Ball & team lost 17 v 25. Geoff Robinson & team won 16 v 14. The best rink was Aaron Evans, Steve Sheaf, Winston Brackley & Garry Ball 21 v 17. Next week they will play at home against Clayton, in a must win game.
Side Two played at home for the first time this season and they managed a 89 v 71 win against Strathmore, they managed to win 2 rinks. Dan Ellis & team lost 16 v 19, Ray Lawerson & team lost 14 v 21. Frank Dalton & team won 21 v 20. The win was set up by Dan Walker, Paul Lucas, Stuart McNeill & Troy Kreyan 38 v 11. Next week they will play away at Hoppers.
The Third Side played away at Keilor and they had another great win 102 v 75, they managed to win 3 rinks. Gary Little and team lost 18 v 30. Ray Russell & team won 29 v 19. The Bowls Victoria Midweek Pennant Competition played it’ second game last Tuesday October 8th. Our Club was hoping for a better day on the greens after only winning the one match in round one, overall the Club had a brilliant day winning all 3 games this week.
Side One played away at Deer Park, and they continued on their winning way beating Deer Park 69 v 42, they managed to win 2 rinks. Ray Russell and team lost 17 v 21. Edith Grinham and team won 18 v 16 in a low scoring game. The best winning rink was Kevin Brady, Alan Viney, Faye Simpson & Frank Dalton 34 v 5. Next week they will play at home against Maribynong Park
Side Two played at home against Palm Lake and they also had a great day on the green winning 2 rinks and won the game 68 v 36. Dawn Buckingham & team lost 15 v 22 Steve Brooks 7 team won 24 v 9. The first round of the Bowls Victoria Saturday Pennant Competition was played last Saturday October 5th with Yarraville-Footscray having 7 teams playing this season. The Club was really hoping to start the season off with some great results. Over the winter months the Club has been able to attract 21 new members to the Club, so many new faces played their first game for the Club on Saturday.
On Saturday our Premier Side played at home against Caulfield Park/Alma, this was a very close game all day with the result being decided on the last end. Our team was able to win 3 rink but lost the game by 2 shots, this was a bitter way to start the year. Wayne Roberts & team lost 14/22. Nelson Ball & team won 17/16. Garry Ball & team won 16/14. The best rink was Mike Galakos, Nat Black, Andrew Myers & Geoff Robinson 20/17. Next week they will play away at Melton.
Side Two played away against Melton, and we saw another very close game going down to the last end, this also seen our team go down by 2 shots 73 v 75, we did manage to win 2 rinks with Frank Dalton & team winning 23 v 12 and Ray Lawerson & team winning 23 v 15. Troy Kreyan & team lost 11 v 25 while Dan Ellis & team lost 16 v 23. Next week they will play at home against Strathmore.

John Lacey & team lost 19 v 21, Steve McMahon & team won 14 v 12, Jean Richings & team won 25 v 16. The best rink was Ron Williamson, Glenn Deoki, Rosemary Cordy & Graham Ellis 32 v 10. Next week they will play at home against Port Melbourne.
Side Seven played at home against Aberfeldie CBC and they started the season off with a good win, they managed to win one rink and play a draw on the other winning the game overall 38 v 32. Next week they will play away at Essendon.

MIDWEEK PENNANT RESULTS
The Bowls Victoria Midweek Pennant Competition played it’s first game last Tuesday October 1st. Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club has entered 3 Open Teams in this year’s pennant competition
Side One played the first game at home against Palm Lake which proved to be a very close game all day, with the result going down to the last bowl. Yarraville-Footscray were 2 up playing the last end and were 3 down with a bowl to play. Edith Grinham was able to get second shot for our team to win by 1 shot 58 v 57. Scores were Edith Grinham & team 16 v 22, Ray Russell & team won 20 v 17, The best team was Kevin Brady, Alan Viney, Faye Simpson & Frank Dalton 22 v 18. Next week they will play away at Deer Park.
Side Two played away at Altona Sports and they did not have the best of days, they could not win a rink and lost the game 46 v 83. Dawn Buckingham & team lost 13 v 30. Ray Eastmure & team lost 15 v 28. The best rink was Fred Caruana, Nancy Oswald, John Harbottle & Stephen Brooks 18 v 25. Next week they will play at home against Palm Lake.
Side Three played away at Williamstown and they also had a bad day, they also could not win a rink and they lost 40 v 76. Thrish Thick & team lost 11 v32, Len Thomas & team lost 17 v 26, The best rink was Carol Clarke, Don Mill, Jean Richings & June Alexander 12 v 18. . Next week they will play at home against Mt.Cottrell.

WEDNESDAY TRIPLES RESULTS
The Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club played the first round of the Wednesday Open 2 Bowl Triples on October 2nd , this event is proudly sponsored by Nelson Bros. Once again 22 teams played the 2 games of 14 ends, which saw players from Deer Park, Williamstown, Newport, Hoppers, Moonee Valley , Sunbury and Yarraville-Footscray bowlers enjoy a great day.
After the two games had been completed we had 6 teams win both games with E.Jones & team on 34 points, R.Round & team on 35 points F.Bari & team on 36 points, R.Yung & team on 36 points.
Runners-Up for the day went to John Purdy, John Sleviosn & George Payne with 37 points.
Winners for the day were Donna Hill, Mike Baker & Robert Sutherland with 39 points.
Best second game winners were Arthur Cassidy, Barry Naylor & Ray Ockwell with 20 points .
